Seriously Saucy Software here, just thought we'd introduce ourselves as the jam starts.
On the team we have 3 programmers;
We're planning a chilli themed game about owning a chilli cart, so we'll see how it goes!
Just to check: are we okay to use third party royalty free assets in our game?
When will the theme be announced?
EDIT: So, we haven't heard anything. We're planning on doing a dungeon boardgame...
@johnjoemcbob Awesome, good luck! Royalty free assets should be grand yeah.
@adantas There no theme - it just has to be made in ChilliSource. A dungeon boardgame sounds great For announcements related to the Jam follow our twitter: @ChilliWorks.
Woot, finally jamming! A bit late, I know...
I don't have Windows on my machine but I still wanted to join, so in the last couple of days (well, last night actually) I ported ChilliSource to Linux. Just the bare minimum to get the 3D Pong sample running on Linux, that is (with a SDL backend). The code is not quite ready for public consumption, but if anyone is interested, my fork is at: http://github.com/fzort/ChilliSource
It looks like my team deserted me, so I hope it's all right to go solo.
By the way, I may be missing something but I'm not sure how entries should be submitted. Can I submit an Android APK? Or (even better) the code?
ChilliSource looks fantastic. Thank you for sharing your hard work!
@fzort Awesome! We've never tried to get it up and running on Linux, it's great to hear you've managed so quickly
Participating solo is grand.
I'm not too sure what James has in mind for submissions - I'll ask him. I'm sure either is fine though. Source may be easier, but it would still be good to set up the Android, Windows or iOS project for us to build (let us know which one). The only Linux boxes we have in the office are either command line only or Ubuntu through Virtual Box, which I doubt will play games very well unfortunately.
And thank you, glad you liking it!
Here's a video of our progress so far, now that we're half way through the jam;
Still got to add actual gameplay but we're happy with what we have so far
That's us finished now, here's a final video of the game:
You can download and play it here:
@johnjoemcbob Haha awesome! Your Chilli Cart seems to be helping spread the alien "invasion" - I had a queue of nearly 800 aliens by day 6
Source code (link has a screenshot):
Deep apologies for not providing a Windows binary, I lack the environment to build it on Windows (would a kind soul volunteer... ?). It was developed and tested on Linux (with my ChilliSource fork).
I didn't implement half of what I had planned and I'm not expecting to win anything, but I had a blast and learned quite a bit about ChilliSource. When I started this I didn't know how to get a sprite to move on the screen. Also my first game jam ever.
Loving ChilliSource, will definitely use it in my future game projects instead of my crappy custom game classes.

Well, we're cutting it fine but we're done. A little rough and ready, but quite a bit of fun.
Enter to start
Arrow keys to move
C and X to attack
Controls (xbox control pad):
Start/A to begin
Thumbstick to move
A and X to attack
Sorry for the resolution issues. I think there might be an issue with not being full resolution on a full screen and we ran out of time to fix it.
GOBLIN BUS RULES!
Here's our game jam submission, HypnoBot!
Awesome! they're all looking great
@fzort I added a link to the windows build of your game to your post
Awesome, thank you!
Good luck everyone
The games are all awesome! Here's my high scores in each:
Goblin Bus: 90
Fzort's Game: 17500
Sell Chilli To Aliens: $5001.56 (Then turned it off, i had 2500 aliens in the queue xD)
In case you missed it: The ChilliWorks team have spent hours playing through all the submissions (with a ridiculous amount of laughter involved) and we have concluded a winner.
A well deserved congratulations to Andrew, Samuel and Shannon who took first place with the magnificent HypnoBot!
Thank you so much to everyone who took part in the first ever ChillliSource Game Jam -- we hope to see you all again next time!
